THE COMPLEX APPROACH FOR ESTIMATION OF THE AESTHETIC AND FUNCTIONAL EFFICIENCY OF CARIES INFILTRATION

The paper describes the necessity of complex approachfor assessment initial caries treatment based on the caries spot color, size and texture estimation by means of visual, luminoscopic and planemetric analysis, as well as patients quality of life testing. Caries infiltration technique permits to treat the initial caries lesion by means of demineralized enamel infiltration with low-viscosity light-curing composite of the lesion surface layer following the conditioning. The results of complex assessment of enamel demineralization treatment conducted in 105 patients (63 men and 42 women, in the age of 18-35 years old), who were finished orthodontic treatment with braces one month ago. The caries infiltration procedure was hold to the testimony in 328 teeth (65,9 % on the upper jaw, 34,1 % on the low jaw). The 409 lesions of enamel demineralization were infiltrated. Positive results of the caries infiltration technique have been proved by reliable improvement of integral index ΣOHIP-14-aesthetic-RU (32,5±1,24 before treatment, 9,2±0,98 after caries infiltration, p<0,01). Immediate, nearest and long-term results of caries infiltration with low-viscosity light-curing composite indicate the expediency of clinical application of the technique to improve the quality of caries treatment and patient quality of life.
