The assessment of the economic damage caused by health care associated infections (HAIs) of newborns and postpartum women in the epidemic period in maternity hospital is made. This calculation applies to subsidiary forms of clinical and economic analysis. A non-traditional, methodical approach to assessing economic damage, taking into account the epidemiological situation and includes three component. The first component is the cost of treatment, diagnosis and hospital stay, calculated by standard methods. The second component is the cost of an epidemiological investigation of outbreaks, disease group (epidemic period), the third component is the cost of localization and elimination of epidemic situation. The study found that the economic damage from HAIs of newborns and postpartum women in epidemic period in 3.28 times more than the damages, calculated according to standard methods, and takes into account the costs of additional diagnostic and epidemiological disease control measures. In this case, the maximum financial costs were borne by the event for the Epidemiological Investigation - 62.6% of total expenditure, followed by events on the diagnosis and treatment of HAIs newborn and postpartum women - 30.5%, the cost of control measures - 6.9%. The economic damage from the outbreak incidence of HAIs in maternity hospital in the epidemic period at 13.1 times exceeded the economic cost of prophylactic and antiepidemic measures in normal view with the prosperous epidemiological situation.
