DISABILITY DUE TO DIABETES; MEDICO-SOCIAL REHABILITATION

The purpose of this work was the study of disability due to diabetes mellitus in the city of Novokuznetsk for 2004–2008. The in-depth analysis of disability due to diabetes was made for the first time; regularities of disability formation were identifiedwe analyzed the contingent of disabled people and specified their socio-sanitary characteristics. In the course of the study it was revealed that the number of disabled as a result of diabetes in a large industrial city was 2748 people. It was shown authentic prevalence of re-recognized as disabled, their number amounted to 1673 man, on average 334,6±73,1 in the year. The share of newly recognised disabled as a result of diabetes increased from 2004 to 2005, from 1.4 % to 2.6 %, respectively, which, in turn, is likely to be associated with the reorganization of the service of medical-social examination in 2004. Dominated by patients of type 2 diabetes at the age older than 50 years, female, with the main cause of disability in the “General disease”. The results obtained can be used for the development of programmes for the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities as a result of diabetes specialists of medical-social examination Bureau.
