The cytokine content (IL-1β, IL-6, IL-10, TNF-α) in biological media of patients with periodontal disease associated with peptic and duodenal ulcers was studied. It was revealed, that inflammatory degenerative processes of combined pathology are inextricably connected with cytokine disbalance local and general character. Presented results of the study have shown an increased expression of pro-inflammatory IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α and anti-inflammatory IL-10 in the blood serum of patients with gastric and duodenal ulcers, as a result of systemic disorders in response to the inflammatory and destructive processes in periodontal tissues. Overproduction of IL-1β at simultaneous reducing IL-10 in contents of the gingival and periodontal pockets indicates an unfavorable prognosis during periodontal disease on the background peptic and duodenal ulcers.
