The morphology of thymus of the rats after course administration of synthetic immunomodulator polyoxidonium was studied with use of immunohistochemistry, and compared findings with the age-related involution. It was found that in one month after the administration of the polyoxidonium in structures of the thymic lobes an increased the number of macrophages and dendritic cells. The number of CD3+ thymocytes authentically increased in the cortex, which checked with the increased expression of cell proliferation marker Ki-67 and protein - regulator of apoptosis Bcl-2. The study of morphology of the thymus at the later (after 3 and 5 months) revealed no significant differences from age-related changes of the thymus in intact rats. In this way, the course introduction of polyoxidonium has pronounced but short-term immunostimulatory effect on the thymus, which is saved in one month after influence, and leveled in the later stages of observation.
