The main goal of the study is identification of psycho-emotional characteristics associated with the severity of cardiac complaints in early postmenopausal women. Fifty eight patients at the age of 45-64 years of post-menopausal period of up to 2 years and from 3 to 8 years were examined. Patients suffered from arterial hypertension and coronary heart disease. Clinical examination, blood chemistry (lipidogram, glycemic profile, creatinine, urea), electrocardiography, echocardiography, renal ultrasound and the study of psychological characteristics with a set of tests (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, State-Trait Anxiety Inventory for Adults by Ch. Spielberger, Toronto Alexithymia Scale) were performed. We established, that women with postmenopausal duration from 3 to 8 years are characterized by a higher level of anxiety and higher prevalence of elevated levels of depression. The correlations of cardiac complaints severity with levels of personal anxiety, alexithymia, depression in postmenopausal women were found (p <0.05).
