The article presents the results of the analysis of anthropometric and bioimpendancemetria studies in 166 students, Omsk, to assess body composition, the indices of physical development of students and determine gender. The minimum representativeness of the sample was calculated on the recommendations Plahinskog N.A. using the formula: n = t2/k2, where n is the minimum number of samples (n=43), t is the indicator to the probability that a given degree of inaccuracy really will not be exceeded (t = 1,96; p =0.005); k is a coefficient, a measure of precision), its value taking into account the degree of responsibility of each employee was taken for 0.3. The study when using nonparametric statistical analysis comparing two independent groups U-test Mann-Whitney defined statistically significant gender differences in body composition and physical development of students. Overweight prevailed among students-young men (37 %) than girls (16%), with overweight in young men below the 75th percentile she was due to muscle mass. Low body mass is typical for girls (23%) than for boys (9%). The results showed that the body mass index does not reflect the cause excessive body weight unlike parameters of body composition.
