PREVALENCE AND INTENSITY OF SIGNS OF PERIODONTAL DISEASES AMONG THE ADULT POPULATION OF SARATOV

The purpose of this survey was to study the prevalence and intensity of signs of periodontal diseases among two key age groups (35-44 years and 65 years and older) of the adult urban population according to the World Health Organization (WHO) criteria. Our study revealed high levels of prevalence and intensity of periodontal lesions which increased with age. The average intensity of sings of periodontal diseases was higher among males and smokers in both key age groups. The average intensity of the periodontal lesions was lower among the residents with high educational level in both key age groups. The results of our study were necessary to determine the dental treatment needs of the adultu rban population and to improve the efficiency of dental services
