THE STRUCTURE OF NEEDS FOR PERIODONTAL TREATMENT AMONG ELDER SARATOV POPULATION

The aim of this investigation was to study the structure of needs for periodontal treatment among urban population of 65 years and older. The results of this study revealed that elder population of Saratov had high level of periodontal treatment needs which was 100%. The structure of treatment needs depended on the region of the city where the persons lived, their gender, level of education and smoking. Life in the region with industrial harmful factors increased the needs for periodontal treatment. Males, middle educated individuals, smokers and non-working people had higher needs for complex periodontal treatment including surgical methods than women, persons with high educational level, never smokers and working people. The results of the survey should be taken into account during planning of periodontal services for elder population of Saratov.
