THE INFLUENCE OF LASER THERAPY ON THE EXOCRINE FUNCTION OF THE PANCREAS IN PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC PANCREATITIS

The aim of the study was to examine the effect of low-intensity laser therapy on the exocrine function of the pancreas in patients with chronic pancreatitis in acute phase. The sample of 49 patients from 36 to 69 years, who were divided into major (39 patients) and control group (10 patients). Patients of the main group connected to medical low level laser therapy in different ways - cutaneous and combined. The control group received only medical treatment. The diagnosis was established on the basis of clinical, laboratory and instrumental methods of research. The concentration of pancreatic elastase-1 in stool of patients was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Studies were performed before and after treatment. The study revealed a positive effect of the combined therapy with the inclusion of low-intensity laser therapy on the exocrine function of the pancreas in patients with chronic pancreatitis.
